(in English): The present diploma thesis analyses three translations, published with twenty years of difference, of novels featuring the commissioner Maigret character written by a Belgian writer Georges Simenon. As a baseline for our analysis of the translations, the theoretical part of the present paper outlines the current state of research in the topic, provides an introduction into the life and work of the writer. Further, we present an account of detective novels in general and their historical development in France, which will enable us to identify how the Maigret novels fit within the genre and where they differ from its general features.
